her spirit quiescent in its chrysalis, is sent questing
inside this silent stasis, hope and redemption are kindled
more than despair, ignites her luminous yearning

Blog EntryMy Sistah, My FriendOct 6, '07 10:17 PM
for everyone
Born of different mothers, fathers
My sistah of my heart, we are sistahs by choice
transcending blood, DNA, cultures, religion and geography
Creative souls, we observe, we see, we try to perceive
You draw, you paint, and you sketch
I posit, I write, I scribble
What is in our minds eye
Creating a picture, we sistahs of right sided genius
Oh, my sistah, my friend.

for everyone
beloved friend
we walk hand in hand
bodies occasionally jostling
laughing and giggling gray-haired school girls
recalling our history
together

I remember quietly whispered secrets
sharing confidences and a love
so many decades ago
it was deeper than sex
deeper than chocolate cravings
more resilient than boys and fashion

today, it is a profound moment
when my sometimes incoherent words
still finds meaning
and acceptance
friendship
aged and yet still alive
consummate
inside another women’s heart

Blog EntryA Lullabye for a FriendJun 17, '07 12:33 AM
for everyone

A Lullaby for Friend

lay your weary head down, close yours eyes

I would croon you a lullaby

if I could

your body, a finely made instrument

is more than note on someone's measure

or discarded badly written symphony

deserving of more than a breve*

for even the brave require succor

and time

lay your weary head down, close your eyes

my friend

note: breve “ musical notation, interval of a rest, marked by a sign indicating the length of the pause.

This poem was inspired by Debbie, for a lot of reasons, mainly though, because in some weird way, she gets me...

We, women have these female friends that we love...it's not sexual, although it can be sensual...touch is sensual...I have walked hand in hand, arm in arm, with female friends, as our bodies touched, we would look and smile at each other...it's cool...men can never have this...a man walking arm and arm? His "manhood" would never allow it...lol...this is still a work in progress, 'cause I'm like that - never satisfied...but Debbie get's that, as well...*grins foolishly*
