Hello Everyone,

When I was posting on the “other” site, or as a friend if mine likes to call it - “over yonder”, periodically, I would post a blog titled “Shattering Myths”. It was a hodge podge of things, that I found interesting. I have decided to post a new set of blog entries, also titled ‘Shattering Myths”.

This first Shattering Myths is about me…yep, I am gonna bore and piss some of you guys off…*sits back and waits for the eruption*

1.     I am not gay, although I have several gay friends. I have been involved in the several AIDS awareness projects and attended several gay pride events…I do find women aesthetically pleasing, in that I once enjoyed drawing and painting them…I use to walk down streets, with close female friends, arm in arm…I kept wondering why I was getting pms and add request from women, telling me how cute, I was. I checked my profile and discovered that I had accidently checked it, as interested women…ooops…lol…sorry…er…my preferred significant other, will always be a male…

2.     Although I frequently compose in first person, my poetry is not always autobiographical…many times it is biographical…in other words, I write about other people, despite my use of “I”, in a poem…I try on feelings (like an actor does, when he plays a part) but my poems are rarely, about me…

3.     I have reached a stage in my life, where the human capacity for violence, frightens the hell out of me. I sincerely believe that we are coded, for this and that we must breed it out, or gene modify ourselves…hence my constant theme, of being more than human…

4.     I am a secular Jew…but I don’t believe in god…Judaism is merely a moral code, that I choose to loosely follow…it is a comforting habit…mainly, I find religion, to be hypocritical…I mean, come-on…are my Hindu friends going to hell because they don’t believe in Jesus? Catholicism says they are…people criticize Muslim women for covering themselves but guess what…Jewish Ultra-Orthodox women are almost, as restricted and also cover themselves…Amish women must defer to their husbands… Mormon women are subservient; to the men in their lives…religions have not been good, for women…

5.     I don’t believe in Affirmative Action…uh oh…*dodges the shit storm heading her way*…I also don’t believe that we should pay Native Americans any more reparations…seriously this auto welfare payment to Natives, is for the birds and encourages sloth and perpetual victim hood...your ancestors (be you black, hispanic or Indian) would be appalled that you take handouts…leave the alcohol alone…stop selling crack...graduate from high school and if you are so inclined, then continue on to college…stop blaming the white man, for everything that is wrong…why did all those men and women, put it all on the line, to fight for their rights…can we say personal responsibility???

6.     I have a problem with rap music…I don’t buy into Russell Simmons’s justification of why it is ok, to call women bitches…mind you…I have heard some decent rap…but most of it is just seems to be men stroking their…er…egos…

7.     I have a problem with people deciding what I am…as a person from a multicultural background, I take pride in ALL my heritages. I have had blacks inform me that I am black because white people perceive me to be so…I have had whites call me African-American...are you frigging crazy? I decide who and what I am…

8.   Continuing the above theme, I dislike the African-American, Mexican-American, Japanese-American, Italian–American appellations…can we be just AMERICANS? I mean, do I have to write that I am a Swedish-African-Panamanian-Hispanic-Caribe-Kuni-Jewish-American…for FECKS sake…I am an American, who is striving to be a global citizens…sheshhh…I dare say, most Americans are Heinz 57’s…again I ask - can we just be Americans?

9.     I have several friends that have blogs. I met most of them online and I enjoy their postings immensely: *waves to Debbie, Rusty, Politicaljunkie, Tammy, Joyce, Robin, Catherine, Robin, Karen, Bert, Wrath, Todd, Jenny, Steph, Charli, and Alan.

Unfortunately, many of my Yahoo 360 friends, did not migrate to Multiply…I miss them…if Yahoo ever completes their Universal Profile thingie, I will start cross blogging, “over yonder”…until then…I am settling, on Multiply…it ain’t 360 but the neighbors seem nice…*grins as she ends the first Multiply series of Shattering Myths*
