like a knife
cleanly, precisely
dismissing the dross
rejecting the irrelevant
inconsistent
with my assumptions
astonished
arrogantly
i inquire as to your age
positive
that such prose cannot flow from the young
hoisted by my own petard
graciously
you respond
like a sinner clutching at redemption
seeking more
of the wisdom that flows from your mind
and pen
greedily
I continue to feast on your words
imbibing them like champagne
until I reel in drunken wonder
mouth agape
dazed
and stumble
onto your next poem
where the wonder begins
anew
